Dean taught for 14 years at the University of Hull in the UK, where he had gained his PhD in 1999. During his time there, he devised and delivered many modules and lectures in a number of departments, including: Drama, The School of Languages and Part-Time Provision: Creative Writing. |

While researching for his PhD, Dean worked as a Speech and Drama teacher in an independent girls' school. Here he taught A-Level Theatre Studies, Public Speaking and LAMDA Speech examination classes. He also directed and produced annual school productions involving more than 100 students and staff. |

After completing his PhD, Dean continued as Head of Drama for a further two years, expanding the curriculum to include GCSE Drama, developing the school's links with higher education providers, and delivering his 7th annual theatre production. |

Alongside his work at Hull University, Dean has taught many classes in various learning environments. For 13 years, he was Education Director for his own company, Scene Cinema Ltd., incorporating the Melissi Digital Language Classroom. With these organisations, Dean developed and delivered programmes of study and media training sessions for students and teachers in schools, colleges and universities. |
